Asia HR Expo 2016 at SMX Aura

It was my first event with TAG Media and Pinoy Bloggers. I was honored and privileged to be one of the exhibitors at this special event last September 16, 2016 at the SMX Convention Center, Taguig City.

Asia HR Expo 2016 was an event intended for Human Resource professionals and practitioners, discussing topics like the new law about age discrimination, employee branding, and other problems concerning digital talent acquisition. It also became a venue to some businessmen to introduce their products and services to its guests and media partners. Some of the guest speakers were Mikel Yaw, CEO of Extremo Malaysia; Kenneth Yap Kean Foo, CEO of Maxstays; Robert Yupangco, President of Yupangco Group of Companies; and Senator Pia Cayetano.

The kind-hearted Engr. Grace Bondad-Nicolas, who is also the host of the event, gave a special booth for some members who are part of Pinoy Bloggers. I was part of it and I brought with me products that I’m selling. I was with other exhibitors and had a chance to chat with some of them.

All in all, this second Asia HR Expo was a success and everyone enjoyed networking. I’m sure that the following events organized by TAG Media will be a success as well. TAG Media has more events organized before the year ends. For more information regarding their events and their services, you may send an email through grace@tagmedia.asia

Here are some pictures that I took, and some shared to me by Ms Jaena Jimenez of Ascento Perfume:

City of blinding heights

Fancy Vertical sticks has populated our Metropolitan rainbow skylines. And over the years their numbers had increased significantly…and counting. Real Estate Developers of all shapes and sizes, rally their concepts and designs to attract patrons. All taking part in the Evolution of Modern living that promises to provide the ultimate experience and style for every Juan.

But how did they ever managed to thrive, penetrate and exploit the Philippine Real Estate when a high percentage of Juans are below the poverty line or just simply making ends meet? Why are we hooked with the condominium climate of living? Though it seems, that the price itself is as high as the skyscraper that it is.
Calling on my fellow blogger Eileen…please explain.

Touching on this subject, I am fortunate to have stayed with my family in two condos ( Pinoy slang for Condominiums) within Prime locations in my favorite City of Makati. And by personal experience, it is imperative to consider the location before investing or deciding to live in one.

The first condominium that I have stayed in, is a mid rise building with 10 floors and located in Salcedo Village. A stone throw away from the small but ample Salcedo Park. Boasting with complex community and a hefty share of expensive Metro living. Every weekend the famous Salcedo market is being held. A showcase of delectable food and curious finds from hobbyist to aspiring and existing Entrepreneurs. Cafes and dessert houses found their niche in every cozy bend. Restaurants serves as gastronomic haven for foodies and simply hungry alike. An Avenue for Spas, banks, grocery stores and a lot more.

Going back, the building is modestly old having been completed in year 1984. It has a small reception area with two operational elevators that services the entire structure. The security is polite and very well placed. Medium size pool also provides leisure time for tenants. The Condominium unit or flat is without parallel, spacious than their counterparts being offered in the market today. Merited by the fact that the building has been erected for quite a time now. Sitting on what I can average as 120 to a good 150 square meters, it accommodates with ease two common rooms and one master, two baths, a decent size kitchen, a spare room that can be converted to a helper’s room or storage. Laundry area and a balcony. That’s why it came as no surprise to see that most of the occupants are families.

The only hiccup is, every room deserves a major and total facelift. Whenever I come down to visit, I often find myself sitting in the living room and redecorating the flat in my mind. One can tell that it has been at least a decade since it was last refurbished. The walls are screaming for a paint job. Wirings, sockets and switches needs to be replaced. Stylish furniture and fixtures to be introduced. The possibilities are staring me right in the eye and I wonder why the owner never bothered to renovate. But don’t get me wrong, the place is livable amidst all the constructive (figuratively and literally) attention it requires. It may fall short on the aesthetics department but not on household appliances and supplies that provides functionality and comfort.

Despite the tireless ongoings and people mix brought to by the businesses and families embracing the village, the palpable wave of warmth within the neighborhood is felt. For that alone, I am in love with the place.( But yes, I want to renovate it. Most ardently 😁)

Second condo review will follow within a few days or weeks.

a quick nap and massage for 200 pesos

While I was waiting for my friends to finish their work until 6 pm, I roamed around the Tomas Morato QC area to look for something to do. Though the area was full of restaurants, I was not in the mood for eating nor drinking coffee, so I decided to look for a place for a massage and I found one at Scout Fernandez street.

13932061_1224991697545411_1401065672_o

This “Body Wellness Aroma Therapy & Reflexology for Men and Women” has a large ad sign in front of them that says you can get a body massage for only 200 pesos. It’s for an hour and the promo runs until 5 pm everyday. I found it cheap and intriguing so I decided to give it a go.

I went inside and I was assisted by a man who gave me a key for a locker, and some instructions on what to do. I was told to keep my items and clothes in the locker, and have a shower, which I did. The place has toiletries like soap, shampoo, talcum powder, hygienic alcohol and a comb. I was also given a towel, a pair of shorts and a bath robe, and was told to go upstairs once I was done freshening up.

I went upstairs and was greeted by a lady who will give me a massage. She opened the door to a room full of beds, and surprisingly it has no curtain divisions which I would often see in a regular massage parlor. Luckily, I was the only client at that moment so it feels like private for me.

I made a quick chat with the lady who was giving me a massage and from her I have learned that there are two separate rooms for men and women (so I’m in the room exclusively for men). They also have a barbershop where you can get a haircut as well. And lastly, she told me that I could take a nap with no extra pay. I did not took a nap because its almost 6 pm, but I’m glad to know that I am privileged for a nap.

I would definitely go back for a haircut, a massage and a nap.

It’s not ice cream. It’s gelatissimo!

Nothing beats ice cream whether as a dessert, a cooling companion or as a self indulgence. But what can beat ice cream in its own game?

Gelato! yep that’s how the Italians do it. Gelato is the Italian word for icecream, with a base of milk, cream, and sugar, fruits and other flavorings. It is lower in fat, but higher in sugar. It is more denser and richer due to the lesser air content. There are countless of brands that promises to replicate if not surpass this Italian engineered dessert. One but rivals all, my personal favorite, Gelatissimo.

Last weekend after eating a hefty lunch, me and my family decided to get ice cream. But knowing that I won’t settle for just an Ice cream.  I propelled them to this magical place where rainbows are scooped to your cones or cups. As we queue and marvel at the sweet spectacle infront of us, one can’t deny the excitement and impatience to be served.

Fruity flavours from berries and mangoes to nutty pistachio and classic vanilla. Chocolate and espresso to tiramisu and rum raisin. After a few seconds of internal conflict, I chose Mint and chocolate.Cold and cool exploded in my mouth  and the chocolate chips added texture and familiar taste. I will definitely try the other flavours next time. Gelato is the King!

did you get the idea?

Idea (ī-dēa)

– A plan, purpose, goal

-a mental representation of something

– a concept of reason that is transcendent but non empirical

How can you conceive an idea when the idea itself is elusive? It’s the question that’s been hounding my head and rendering me sleepless nights. How does this four letter word represent? I have the definition up there. Still, the irritating realisation resonates in my head…I don’t know.

A couple of times, a friend of mine expressed that she wanted to quit her job. There is no motivation and energy to even start a day at work. So I asked her…”what do you want to do?” To which she replied..” I have no idea”. Dang! There’s that word again.

Like her, I am suffering from what I call idea crunch. My brain goes on overdrive  about varied things. Each representation is mooted carefully. Weeding out unwanted subjects. It’s a tricky business. Then as if it’s inevitable, I get lost in my trains of thoughts and the chaos spirals into stale air. Nothing appeals anymore until I am left with “?”

So why am I stuck in this limbo that is IDEA? I wonder why.

Each idea appeals to a certain individual as it is unique and evolving to itself. It may or may not be ideal,  prosaic, weighted or imaginative. It has its sole purpose and that is to embody and anchor our minds.

Next are questions. It can be broken down from simple to complex. How can a person elicit such an idea? Does one need to meditate, join forums , experiment or read books by the score? Are there guidelines or rules to abide in? Is there a conducive environment? Do I even make sense?

And when finally an idea comes into mind from relentless pondering  or simply having the Eureka moment, what happens next? How would you know if it’s brilliant or bad? Will the idea guide you? Will it bask you with the wisdom of the Universe and finally reach for the stars? Maybe yes or maybe not.

Somebody once told me that I should follow my passion and all will fall to its rightful place. Deep sigh. The irony is not lost in me… Or as plain as it is, I am lost in the irony. Another deep sigh.

It’s hard to admit that this sink hole is driving me nuts. If sanity begs me, we’ll both just agree and grab a couple of drinks. But after all this ranting and procrastinating and more ranting,  I still believe the IDEA is just out there. I am still chasing and deciphering my elusive idea. Hidden within my subconscious …waiting, cocooned or maybe it’s just simply sitting right under my nose.

it made me smile

When a flood came into our house, it destroyed a lot of items. I was not home during that time. I was somewhere.

Sometimes, when I am alone and I look around our house, it makes me remember things that were once there and things that were part of my growing up years. Here are some:tabo9 This was part of my grade school lunch box.

laser disc

Besides the VHS, this gave me my first karaoke experience.

sewing machine

I love seeing my mom create curtains with a machine that looks like this.

stationery

My friends love to give me letters and i kept it in a box.

britannica

I love flipping the thin pages of these books.

The flood destroyed those items in our house. I have learned to let go. They are just memories. Remembering them just makes me smile.

Dolce vita ;)

Hello peeps! I’m the third  side of the triangle.

I have known my darlings since my margarita sipping days and as they say the rest is history. We have this friendship that’s constantly evolving and grounded at the same time. That’s why it’s very timely to collaborate with them through this blog, the possibilities are endless. Continue reading “Dolce vita ;)”
